Floating Dreams // Ik-Joong Kang
In London the Totally Thames Festival is coming to an end, but don’t worry Ik-Joong Kang’s Floating Dreams is still on view in the middle of the Thames near Millennium Bridge. Kang’s cube is composed of 500 drawings. At night the cube is illuminated and the drawings sparkle in the dark sky.
The Rising Tide // Jason Decaires Taylor // London 2015
Underwater sculpture artist Jason Decaires Taylor contributed to the Totally Thames Event which celebrated London’s famous river Thames. Taylor made statues of four people sitting upon four large horses in various poses. As the tide changes, the statues become submerged in water. During high tide this eery scene shows only the figure’s heads. During low tide, visitors are able to see the entire statue. The effects the tide has on the visibility of the sculptures highlights the importance of the Thames River for London and its history.
